Since I always like to have the last word (well not really) ... I thought reaaaaaaaally hard about how to respond to your threats ... please appreciate it took me a whole day to come up with this, so since you're an err hmmm gentleman you are no longer authorised to comment further on this subject, OK?

My answer is that you do not scare me one bit Mister!!!!!!!!!! In World War II (no I am not THAT old but I know my history!) Churchill had said about my tiny tiny island that it was an unsinkable ship, so there ... considering the progess we've had with modern technology you are fighting a losing battle Mister (I love saying Mister!) ... at the touch of a button, the whole island nowadays can turn into a submarine in 2 seconds!!!!!!!! ... now beat that! phew! I need a coffee!

Well then, dear, if that's the way you want it, expect a helicopter with a payload overhead anytime, as I mentioned in the other post...

I think I've found the perfect solution ... I'll only drive my BV during rush hour!!! that way I'll be going at about 1 metre/hr !!!!!!!!!!!!! ... no risking falling off a cliff that way!

P.S.

I have my doubts on your "magnanimous" comments

OMG! Can you at least turn around? Well, being as magnanimous as I am, I might be willing to rescue you from your tiny, tiny island - just give me the coordinates...

err hmmm ... I think I may have a problem with the BV actually - top speed 407km/h and err hmmm I live on a tiny tiny island ... I'm afraid if I drove from one side to the other of the island at full speed I might fall over a cliff into the sea or something!!!!!

I don't blame you! On the other hand, I am surprised that you are not out driving the BV while you still can, before I catch up with you...

It's really nice to see you back! Having said that, I must tell you that I think turning 'G.I.', firmly rooted in my and many people's minds as the term for the American soldier fighting a 'good war' in WWII, into 'Global Integrated' is just crap...

Pat, apparently this is just a movie, so far, but I'm sure the action figures are sure to follow...

Shelly, I really don't know much of G.I Joe's current situation or whereabouts, lol. I just know that this attempt at 'updating' him is absurd...

Nautikos

Considering the box office success of the Transformers movie, I figured it was only a matter of time before the eighties-era cartoon version of G.I Joe hit the big screen as well. This movie premise doesn't stray too far from the cartoon version. G.I. Joe was the codename for a special force, consisting of members from all branches of the service, dedicated to combatting Cobra, a terrorist organization. All of those in G.I Joe were American (the theme song proclaimed they are "real American heroes") and strangely enough, the members of Cobra with speaking parts all had voices that were so odd they had to be evil or had foreign accents. There were a couple women, a blond and a redhead (I've forgotten their names), but considering these cartoons were nothing but commercials to sell the action figures to boys, there couldn't be too many. If it's male, it's an action figure. If it's female, it's a doll. Boys don't play with dolls.

Now if the movie pans out as this post suggests, I don't think I'll have a problem with it. Even if G.I. Joe isn't exclusively American forces, I'll bet my bottom dollar the leadership is. Hence, America giving the rest of the world orders, just like always. Keep in mind the American movie-going public is the most important when it comes to counting the profits. The film makers won't go out of their way to anger the biggest cash cow in the global herd. Regardless of where it's headquartered, this also represents the way a real "war on terror" should be fought, all nations banding together, shouldering the load equally. If they can pull it off, I envision it as what the U.N. should be, a force to be reckoned with, not the toothless watchdog it currently is.

Naut now that's a shame and it's ruined all my GI Joe fantasies. My kids
had GI Joe dalls( no Ken doll for my boys) and I don't see that playing war has left them damaged particularly, or made them anti America.
