What a wonderful story. I’m familiar with that bright light you speak of – my father – and isn’t it remarkable that it can happen when we are doing the simplest of things. To remember a small but happy vignette of someone we have lost is often more meaningful then trying to remember them as a whole. I am often reminded of my father when I hear someone begin what is obviously going to be a long and drawn out joke. My father loved to drag out a joke out but he was good at it. Glad you had a “laughing up a halo” moment. I’m sure it felt good.

I know exactly what you are talking about here.  Your post has brought visions of my own Mom and Dad and the wonderful and unique times I've had with them.  Just about anything can suddenly call up their love of humor and laughter of times past.

Sometimes...
I crack a joke and my mom says, "you don't know how much like your dad you are!"  Then she gets that halo smile.  You see, he passed away when I was six, so I really didn't have a chance to know him, but somehow got his sense of humor.

This is my favorite blog post ever.
Warmed me right up...probably lit me up to so that I had my own halo.

LOL...Yep!  Every time I watch those silly M&M's ads I crack up...Guess my halo must be cracked too.  God bless.  I'm glad you had such happy thoughts of your mom and dad.
