Very interesting! I read that the oldest dog in the world was an Australian cattle dog (ie part dingo) which lived to well over 30. Probably the wild dingo genes helped.
I'm beginning to think that a secret to good health (and therefore presumably longevity) is (as I think you suggest) variety, + minimising consumption of processed foods. Of course, good genes help.
