Erm...we are nerds just for being in here
we're also revolutionaries who are making history because frankly, the Internet is the future.

Also, I live on my own. I think it's easier to get caught up in it then...and there's no trying to balance it out with family life.

That was really interesting... although I feel a bit embarrassed to know for sure I was very definitely in that category - I would say the cyber relationships one, replacing 'real' life and people with online stuff. Honestly, the 14 signs you listed, I had all of them - this is a couple of years ago now.. and I suppose I do still use the computer just as much but it's no longer an addiction... perheps because most of the things I use it for are productive, like writing and trying to find good poetry sites and competitions and selling my books on Amazon. Before, it was not a healthy thing at all.
I guess other things come into it - I had just been made redundant from a job I loved because the place was shutting down.... and I'm prone to depression/anxiety attacks so I feel 'safer' staying inside and being online.
But that has changed now.. thank goodness.

double edge sword
I think if you manage your time between family and internet you shouldn't be considered an "addict" however, I agree if that you ignoring family and civilization around you...you need to go to internet anonymous...lol. Also, if your in the chat rooms talking with the opposite sex about inappropriate things...not a good thing.

Re: Well some might say that makes us addicted, but what's the alternative?
Honestly, I am getting blogging into my blood now and like you say, it is better than watching TV.

Well some might say that makes us addicted, but what's the alternative?
If there was a better one, we'd do it. It's an easy way to find out what's going on, to communicate, to buy things. It saves time. At least it's more active an occupation than watching TV, which let's face it is far more boring. I don't think I'm an addict, I use this blog mainly to write, not to just pass the time. Anyway, I really am getting hungry, and I promise not to eat in front of the computer, altho I do tend to eat my breakfast in front of it before going to work!
