I will be around to see what you say.

I think you're correct, although there is still always the question of which church we're talking about...

I think that the Christian church as we know it today is often a far cry from what Christ taught. ~Peace, OTA

I don't know all the details, but since they get roasted, I'm sure they get de-feathered! On the other hand, I also suspect that entrails and bones remain in place...

Thanks! The Bible is amazingly rich! Take a look at Northrop Frye, The Great Code...

In reading your comment about ortolan, I got sidetracked from what I intended to comment about your post.  Finally, I am back.  You have done a good job of studying your Christian History (and writing on it).  Most of the conflicts between Christians is due to heterodoxy and that due (as Soul_Builder rightly stated to me) to the individual's CPU's.    As Jesus said, "The gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it."

I keep thinking about that ortolan business.  What I want to know is:  Did they clean out the entrals and de-feather the poor little thing after drowning him and before grinding his bones between their teeth?

This really is fascinating.  I took a literature course once that used the Bible as one of the texts....for poetry, a play, etc.....but I've never actually studied religion - I've, of course, heard little bits and pieces of these things over the years, but never an orderly progression of any sort....so, that is the most valuable thing (think!) of this series for me.  I wish I had the time....and weren't so dang lazy!...because I really would love to delve more deeply.

And I forgot to mention: make sure you take out the ortolan first...

I had to look up that Hannibal Lecter business, never having encountered the gentleman before! (See, there is stuff I don't know, lol). If that "To be continued..." makes you queazy, you can always have an Armagnac to steady your nerves...

I think the new pope is Lecter Hannibal .... which is close right?

I don't like that "To be Continued ....."
