Patience, old boy, I'll be getting around to all that! My problem is that I have other things to do, besides enlightening everyone...

Some Commandments seem very practical (when translated into civil law), which is a good thing - but say, worshipping false gods? If a woman wants to become a Wiccan (especially if she's hot! ) - and peacefully worship trees, instead of the traditional Christian God, I seriously doubt that she'll be condemned to Hell for all eternity - or is that one of the points that you're eventually going to get to? I remember my Nietzsche Professor hinting at us dim bulbs, about the existence of God - one day, he got exasperated, and said, "You're all missing the point - there is no God!"

Re: Naut on Religion...Part XIII
Wavy, in many ways you're right, except that it never occurred to anyone else before...

Naut on Religion...Part XIII
Naut: I don't think that you need anything else but the Ten Commandments.  Who cares what someone eats or how they dress?

I'm glad you are going to clarify for Krisles.  She makes a good point and I am interested in what you are going to tell her.  I know it will be good.  But she's a thinking one and she's going to come up with more good questions you know.

You make an excellent point! But rather than address it here, I shall deal with it in my next installment, since it's obvious the whole issue needs to be clarified.

Okay...another good entry in the series....I read it not long after you put it up, but just couldn't quite comment without "chewing" on it awhile because something about it kept bugging me (sorry, can't seem to get away from the connection with you now...teehee)....anyway, I finally figured out what it is....and I know you did not mean to be flip in any way....OMG, can you even imagine the word, "flip", in connection with yourself....unless, of course, it's on a bike....(drumroll, please, I'm on tonight!)....but, here is part of the line that has been bugging me somewhat staying in my mind today, "this Christian lack of concern with prescribing modes of acting (beyond the Ten Commandments)" ---- the problem for me, I think, is that sounds somewhat....and I KNOW you don't intend this connotation at all ( okay, enough disclaimer) that this is some lightweight thing....when, in actuality, saying you're a Christian is easy to do, but actually living the Ten Commandments is, I would think, every bit as difficult and challenging (and a mode of acting in very real terms) as any of the customs people might have been used to....so I question if it was as easy as this sounds to me like you present it, IF people actually thought it through?  I, of course, was working today and haven't put a lot of deep thought into this question for you, but....it BUGGED me!
