In college, I had a professor who who asked if this was really about the "ocean."
I looked at him blankly and replied, "yes, should it be about something else?" He never did tell me what that was.
I was so young and naive then. Over the years I would go back to that moment and wonder what it was he was talking about and then I had my blonde ah hah moment . . . Sex, he thought I was really writing about sex.
No, it was rather simple. It was about the first time I saw the ocean. I was in high school and it is a moment I will never forget.
