- Go to All babies should have it so good.... TAPS has broken the news
Here
in Japan they just started up a 'baby post' in a couple of places (I can't remember exactly where) where a parent can leave a baby. The uproar that it is 'encouraging' parents to give up their babies and it being 'immoral' was all over the news and made me cringe. There are too many teenagers having babies in bathroom stalls and babies found in station lockers. Sadly older kids, (a three year old) have been left. It is so much better than abuse, though, and, I think a necessary thing in today's society. But I think Japan has a real hard time facing up to it's problems, because it doesn't admit to them very easily. Support groups for any kind of problem are a recent thng in Japan and there aren't many. You hold it all in and bear all your burdens yourself and it is all your fault, (or your mother's fault)... or you have to be STRONG! This is why there are such heinous crimes here. Guns are not allowed here, but beleive me it doesn't take guns!

You've well-described what this woman must be going through and the world
of a difference between TAPS' grand-daughter's entry into the world and that of this little unfortunate (or maybe fortunate?) baby...

It really is very sad! Though not as much as cases where the mother abandons her baby in a trashcan, as happened not too long ago here in Toronto. Luckily the little boy was found when someone heard him crying...

Good for her.....
that she was able to admit that she could not do it and dropped her baby off. I would find it more unfortunate if that baby was abused or neglected becuase of staying with that mom.

That is just too sad....she did the right thing and it says a lot about her character and love she had for the child by dropping him by the fire station. Still it would take a lot of strength to do that....

How tremendously sad and yet...
...noble at the same time. So much better that the baby finds a family that can love and care for him but tragic that the mother knew she couldn't give him those things.
