Whacky
It might have been the soil. It needs to be a certain ph as well as the right kind. I have to look it up every time I plant something. So far, I haven't lost anything other than one small plant in a pot. It was a foxglove and it got too much moisture and then too much sun. It wilted right over.

We have a type of cactus plant which bears fruit called "Dragonfruit". It is tasty and is sold in the market.

Maybe the one you got was everybody's favorite, and they just couldn't live without it...
And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and the wonder dog!

I had a very fine cactus plant for a long time, until I overwatered it.

I learned my lesson, thus the cactus plant I have now doesn't get over watered.

Whacky, I bet it was the richness of the soil..now if it was me, all I'd
need to do is sing to them and they'd either die or grow legs and flee..
