Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Your warm and loving gift of this post, as well as that delectible treat, give me hope I lacked when I wrote my post today.

Krisles, The simple gifts are the best ones for me. Maybe it was the way
I was brought up, or what I've become. I don't know. I know I spoiled my children for awhile at Christmas when I had the money to do so. Later, the Christmases became simpler, and I found my children to appreciate the time spent together as more important than the gifts. Funny how things worked out. By the way, that cake sounds good. Would you happpen to be within driving distance of Atlanta? lol

Corbin made reference to your post so I came over for a read. You are so right about parents going overboard - almost setting the bar too high for themselves year after year. When the joy of gift giving becomes a chore, it's probably time to reassess. I've usually kept it relatively simply and thank God my daughter was never possessed with 'name brands". I also dislike the social demands - going here, must attend that party, must see so and so. This year I've really simplified. Everyone has been invited to
my home for Christmas Eve dinner. My "gift" will be my hospitality and some home cooked food and everyone has been asked to give to someone less fortunate rather than exchanging presents. We will not be driving one hour to see one side of the family and then one hour the next day to see the other side. And on Christmas day Mr. Troosha and I can enjoy a quiet day with some Christmas music in the background, some turkey sandwiches, maybe some old movies, and just being. Oh how I like the sound of that......

"Do'ing" Christmas
Good post. So true! We're making life difficult for ourselves. Take my son for instance, he's got everything a child want's, hardly playing with most of it! So the question is what do I buy for him this year?
