my uncles use to try and fool me and my sister as dad was not in the
picture, but i think i knew all along because i always got the things i needed not toys or things i just wanted. I can't remember when my kids gave up believing in santa, since they are 7 years apart in age, i am sure the younger one gave it up earlier. Never got into the tooth fairy or bunny thing with them as that is something else we didnt do when i was growing up.

cute story
My own son will be 8 next month, and I'm wondering when to break the news to him. He also believes in the easter bunny and the tooth fairy (who he thinks is male, btw). I don't know if I should tell him, or wait for him to find out on his own... When I was a kid, I didn't believe that stuff for a second, so I'm no help to myself!

Very good! Anything to keep them believing in magic as long as possible.
That's where imagination comes from and the magic ends far too soon. I have my own story; my sister one year older and brother one year younger (yes, I'm a semi-middle child with another brother ten years my junior), anyway.....they discovered the 'secret' first and insisted on showing me the presents all neatly wrapped in my parent's bedroom closet complete with the gift tags signed Santa. They even went so far as to show me mother's signature on a report card that matched the handwritting on the gift tags. I was devastated and refused to believe them, although in my heart I knew it was true, I still pretended like it wasn't. There was no more Santa after that year, thanks to them! Until we all got to pretend for my little brother. (I'm still waiting for another Lincoln too).
