A heart warming story, thank you for sharing! And a most difficult juncture
for a parent. My boys didn't tell me when they lost their belief because they knew it was important for me to pretend (my boys know me well), so they continued on 'believing' and letting me enjoy the magic. Obviously your granddaughter had to confront a difficult situation! It will be a lifelong memory for your daughter. I enjoyed this post very much! ~Blessings~

My older brother ruined the
magic for me (but I think that's what older brothers are supposed to do).

my sister and I found out that my parents were playing Santa when we were
8 and 7. It was right after my sister's birthday. So every time they brought up Christmas and Santa my sister and I would exchange a knowing glance and start giggling. We kept that up for 2 more years. HA we were stinkers. We also knew how to unwrap the presents and then rewrap them pefectly so we knew what we were getting before Christmas, then we practiced our surprised faces on each other.
We were rotten.

SEEDLINGS,
If there is no Santa, then somebody has a lot more explaining. I know my parents did not have the financial ability to give us the Christmas we had! It is not a child's place to tell a parent who or what exists! Santa Claus is the illusion of hope. Merry Christmas.

Seedlings, Hug your granddaughter for me. She does indeed sound
'ahead of her years' Poor mom. Reminds me of when my little girl told me babies did not come out from under cabbage leaves and briefed me on the real deal. LOL

How precious! Give your granddaughter a kiss for me. I don't know, the universe is so vast, I'm sure there's a Santa out there somewhere.

Exactly how I felt. However my 9 year old grand child has an imagination that far surpasses even mine. Where and when she learned that Santa did not exist we will never know, all we know is that she knocks our socks off all the time with statements far ahead of her time. We let her believe in what she wants, it was just kind of funny that she came to her mother instead of her mother going to her at some later year. Thanks for stopping by

It bothers me that one would destroy a child's fantasy. Do you introduce your child to Greek mythology - all pure imaginative stories? Does the world say all that body of work is harmful? Far from it. Saying there is Santa Claus is NOT lying. You are arresting the child's imagination. Is Christmas the truth? For God's sake, let the children grow up and discover for themselves. Happy Christmas.
