So True!
Unfortunately all our loved ones go and leave us alone or we go on and leave them alone--so is the course of our lives and the way it is meant to be. The young bury the old, as my mother said after burying my brother, That is the way it's supposed to be a parent should never have to bury her/his on child. She thought that the child is better equipped to handle it than the elderly are after caring for their children for x number of years. I suspect that she was right; she had buried three of her kids two in one year. But I think this was more along the line of a lover/wife's death, which is also true. Either they go or we do. It is highly unlikely that we both would go at the same time. I love your poem!
