Pork and kraut is also my tradition...
plus black-eyed peas. In my family it came from my German grandfather. I fixed it myself this year and my sister and I were the only ones who ate any!

I don't think I want to be in your state tomorrow after all that Kraut!!!!!
I do find it a bit odd. Wiley and I had turkey and the second pudding.

Offy,
Thanks for the toast and cheer. We seem to be on different planes but I do think (I have only your writings and comments as gage) you are a beautiful person. I do wish you and yours a Happy, Properous, Healthy, Uncumbered, New Year. And let us resolve to share that toast again (in person??).

Sally...................
We eat sauerkraut for good luck. Where have you been, Sis? While it does cleanse the body (for some people), it is just plain good and the good luck, if it comes, is a plus. I can see I'm limiting your intake. hahaha Happy New Year.

Good Morning, and Happy New Year again, Offy hon
Pork and sauerkraut, eh? I guess you had a lot of Bavarians settle in Ohio - you can't get much more Bavarian than pork and sauerkraut, other than adding beer, of course! Talking of beer, I didn't have much of that last night, but lots of other liquids, which is why I won't eat or drink much today, period, and certainly no pork and sauerkraut...

Sounds like there might be a lot of Czechs in Ohio. Pork and saurkrout is a Czech dish. We had it a lot, with dumplings added for good measure, when I was a kid. Although it was blackeyed peas for New Years because that was my Dad's desire.

During my bar hopping days I use to go love to go with friends on
New Years Eve and drink and get all of the pork and saurkraut I wanted! I don't miss those days anymore.

LOL
