Mystery bird
I can't beleive that nobody knew that your bird is the common flicker! Yes, they make a sound that will stand the hair on your head up. They also throw their sound to make it seem like they are elsewhere. If the red vee on his breast were visible, you would have known what he was, I'm sure.    Guy

It looks kind of like a sand piper, although
I doubt it. It's probably a thrush or a lark of some type.

Wacky
I'm a complete dolt when it comes to the names of birds - though I love to watch them and listen to their sweet music.

It's the elusive Black-spotted Gray Profile, Whacky. It can only be seen
from the side.  Lucky you !!

Whacky
Its the Rufous-rumped Lark whose  natural habitat is the dry savanna of Africa.  How did it get to your bird feeder?  (Actually, I don't know what it is.  I just made that up.  Its probably the polka-dotted peckerwood.)   Pitiful is sure enjoying me feeding the birds outside of her window.  She remains in pounce mode until every seed is gone and the birds disappear.

It's cute and feathery and sings and flies. It looks like it may be
thinking about making a nest. It has a beak. It's a bird. Sorry don't know more.

I checked my Audubon Field Guide to North American Birds, and it wasn't in there. Then I asked my cat, she didn't know either...maybe it's an illegal immigrant...
