I never had to spank mine........ so I guess discipline and
no treats worked well

I allow the child to make mistake...
then discuss the consequences of his/her actions...using his very own wrong results as a live example to get a clearer vision on the upnext predicament if he/she insist on it again...i dont believe in violent implementation on children...the more you hurt them...the more they go wild. (personal opinion dear)....

I spanked...
But it must be done wisely and only when circumstances demand a swift, attention getting response. After all, you are tying to get the child's attention, not injure them. Rewards were far more successful. As they grew older, I stayed close to them and got to know their friends. Spanking is a useful tool and anyone who says not to use it is a fool.
