It's hard having our boys and men so far from home.
If it's any consolation, my husband (a Corporal) said being in Okinawa and travelling around Japan was the most fun time he had in his life, much less his military career. And, Iraq is much MUCH less dangerous for Marines right now due to the work of USMC brass and tribal leaders (who finally realize they need to cooperate to save their villages)... due to their location, of course. The Army still is really in a difficult spot, and Baghdad is more dangerous than ever, but at this point the areas where the USMC is going isn't fun (a f-ing sand box, as it's affectionately referred to), but safer. We have a good friend there now from my husband's battalion, even his former company before he got to process out. He says he writes home, reads, and works out a lot. A lot different than when my husband was in Fallujah in 2004! I am so proud of my husbands work in the Marines, I can only imagine how you feel. :) There are lots of wives and families on the internet for support groups if you want to talk to someone who understands what you are going through. Of course, thank your boys for their service for us.

Your tears are tears of joy. Nothing wrong with that. I wish your sons a safe career. And your ending quote is so appropriate.
