Re: Good stuff, Soul Builder. For my own part, I despise a revisionist...
Thanks Saul R! I like to get to the bottom of things. It is more like gathering clues and working out the puzzle of life, beyond amnesia!!

I tried to go into selective memory in my new post. I hope it helps by way of explanation. The same thing has happened to me! Thanks!

You may be right. In society's war on me, I would be suprised many times by the skew they had on the things I did, or on things that happened to me. I corrected them, though. Values, morals and concentration differences, sometimes cultural differences, play such a big role in the way things are seen. I have always stuck with the 'camera' view which catches most things, without bias! Thanks!

That is strange but true. My ailing grandmother did the same thing! Its funny what stays with you in old age! And, she had the details down pat! Thanks.

You are right! Coping mechanisms can become a block, in the present, to a complete understanding of 'what was'. There is nothing like standing 'naked' before God and yourself as you study your own history!! Thanks!

Re: I have read this post with great interest SB and very slowly...
Thank you Mariaki! I hope what I do is worth the while! I have pretty much gone through the process and I hope that others can be helped despite the fact that we may travel on different roads!

My kids used to tell me that I always said no. The reality of it was that I rarely said no at all. I am like Kabu, I remember every detail about things that I did wrong or could have done better, and the many good times are fuzzy.
Ah well......forget about the past!!!

I have always found it so interesting that many people can observe the same incident and remember the details so differently from each other. Much of what you say here would have bearing on that.

This is a most thought provoking read. How come when it comes to my
mothering of my children when they were small it's so easy for me to remember the times I failed them, and so difficult to remember the majority when I was a great Mum!

I have therapy sessions to rid myself of past coping skills that are a hinderance due to a dreadful past. Your points are well taken because I see the value of dealing with the past to rid myself of items and nuances that are no longer necessary. sam

Thank You
Hey Soul Builder
I really enjoyed reading this blog and it definitely gave me a lot to think about..I was 'uh humming' and nodding and smiling a lot while I was reading this one..it's definitely one I can relate to!
But you're very right in saying that we have to pay attention to all of our memories..even the 'low impact' ones..the ones that at surface value, don't seem to teach us anything about ourselves or lives at all...until we take time out to pull it apart and seek the lesson..but how often do we stop and think and actually allow ourselves the time to do that?
I know that there have been many times I didn't..but it's definitely something I'm working on and learning from even now.
So I thank you for writing this blog and continuing to share your thoughts, lessons, experiences with us.
Blessings~
