john macnab, SL is becoming just another video game eating my time.

At least one of our members is making it work for her, but cruising it at night (local) it is largely a ghost town except for the salacious sites or other social places...and those may largely be automatons set like decoys.

SLFD has recently remodeled and gotten more sophisticated and now wants you to be a roleplayer when you are there...another video game.

majroj
I like the idea of having everybody's name above their heads, majroj - even in the 'real' world.   It would save me wracking my memory.   I was going to suggest you try second life again, but I see from a later post that you have done.

I've heard of second life, and keep meaning to check it out. The whole idea amuses me. Especially the idea of using real cash to buy virtual products. It's hard enough to budget for stuff you can actually use !

I think it's funny the way the avatars stand there and type. It looks a little strange on TV footage to see their arms wiggling as their 'owners' type on their keyboards. And I found i-reporters posting second-life images on real world CNN hilarious!

I imagine the fireman training was half-baked - no pun intended - because the instructor doubted anyone would go for it. Taking virtual lessons on how to fight a real life fire does sound a little unusual...

Perhaps if I stop laughing long enough to give second life a look, I might recognise you there. Cheers Majroj

Azur, part of the "real life:" I am talking about is a cat...well, two cats
The evening before, one insisted on sitting upon a wireless keyb oard coaxially connected to the computer I was using. The next day, when I was supposed to "be" "somewhere" for an interview, the big cat with hyperthyroid disease decided he needed comfort. (Being a a tad under two feet long, he tends to get it, too).

Interesting...
Perhaps their computers were overheating. So often at events there, people crash, or maybe

their cat wanted attention too. Mine did earlier, it walked across the piano, plink, plonk, plank!
