"favorites" lists

Spitfire,

Like you, I never knew what to do with this list stuff. When I first began blogging, I named a few of my faves at the time, but many of them dropped out of sight, and I'm not much of a poetic kind of person so although I occasionally read poetry, I don't usually go looking for them. I once asked what the purpose of listing who I enjoy reading, was anyway. Nobody had an answer. Most of the bloggers I listed are dead or disappointed writers that I never hear from now. I don't think that anyone has ever listed me as one of their favorites and I don't feel the least bit slighted.

I totally get that. And, yeah, we can't be everywhere! Personally, I just couldn't keep up with it if I had one anyway!

I didn't have a fave's page til recently exactly for the reasons

you list but when a valued friend was banned recently I created one to list that name

on my page then I added a few people who I have known a while and who are all incredibly loyal readers of mine - I could add more you know but life is a little busy. I think people should be able to work out how you feel from comments etc and heh we can't be everywhere ;-)

I read so many...the list would go on and on...

it is an uplift of sorts to find your own nickname listed in someone's blogside; who in any honesty will deny that? But to list whole populations only to overlook a few and have (them) aside, I personally think it well enough to leave occasional comments whose wording alone shows the writer that he/she is thought well of...grand post, Lady...well done!

I think I still have a "people" list on mine. Honestly I can't remember. I'm not around her enough to know anyone new so there might actually be enough room for all of my favorites!
