Whacky and Bo
Up here in the cold north, W&B, the government suggests that when you are about to cough or sneeze that you do so into the crook of your arm - that means the germs stay there until you straighten your arm -duh!

You DID miss something!
TAPS and Maggie hit on it, tho.    Colds begin in the nose.  Zicam now has a swab to help kill the cold germs you breathed in through your nostrils when you closed your mouth.  Those germ laden dust particles floating around get caught in your nose, the nose hair, the little turbanates that are up in that rhino-cold depository.  My BIL (a doctor) uses chap stick in his nose to provide a barrier when he flys.

When I flew anywhere, I used to breathe in Young Living Essential Pure Oils, such as Immupower, until they insisted on X-Raying them.  They are NOT to be XRayed (at $60 a bottle for Immupower, I refused!)

I used to say they were for "my massage therapy business", and they would always let them go on around the machine; I would carry more than one kind of oil, at least while I could.  As security tightened up, I had one person tell me I would have to drink some (not advisable but they won't kill ya! ) She thought  I truly  WAS a nutcase.  She obviously is oblivious to the frequencies and electricity that pulses through her own body.  Anyway, another airport had a mini chemistry lab where they dipped and tested each bottle.  And that was YEARS ago.

I finally gave up taking my oils with me and tried the chapstick.  But now I take a drug for Parkinson's (to control Dyskinesia) that is also an antiviral so I never get sick these days.

Hope you escape the nasty bug!

Did you know that airborne transmission of bacteria or viruses is so common because they travel on dust particles or on tiny respiratory droplets that become aerosolized when people sneeze, cough or even laugh.  They hang in the air much like invisible smoke and can travel on air currents over considerable distances.  The droplets are loaded with infectious particles.  Direct contact with someone who is infected is not necessary to become ill.  Some germs hang in the air so long that you could hear someone coughing in the next aisle of the store and by the time you get there still breathe the germs after the person who coughed is no longer there.   Children are now being taught to cough or sneeze into their elbow to prevent this and to minimize germs on hands.  I wish that more adults would take up that practice.

sweetie eat lots of fruit and vegetables and keep youself warm
We don't catch a cold in the wet, but getting cold and damp can allow the germs to take a hold. Good luck.

I hope so!  Sounds like you covered it.  I'd say, wash your hands like a fiend regularly and you should be OK.

I hate such inconsiderate people! Of course, those damn germs are all over the place anyway. Did you know that shopping cart handles are among the most germ-laden places anywhere? Well, you do now! That's why I always wash my hands if I've been shopping! I hope you'll be alright, and the wonder pooch as well!
