Fun post. Yes, my Granny and my Auntie Ida wore one too! I guess I'm the only guy here among all these aprons, but I wear one as well when I'm at the BBQ, although that probably doesn't count...

Re: MaggieMae, This is a wonderful post.
TAPS, I should use mine, I guess. I've gotten a lot of flour, etc. on my clothes on occasion, but I don't use it, so it serves me right. We all have fond memories of our mothers and their aprons. This find also brought some emotion out of me and I wanted to share it.
Maybe I should dig it out, go to the bedroom and put it on. Do you think it would prove beneficial? hahahaha WOO HOO! Nah, I don't need it. hahaha

MaggieMae, This is a wonderful post.
I haven't worn an apron in years. Both my mother and my mother-in-law used them continuously. I received many, many aprons for wedding presents. I wore them at first because that was all I had ever known. Somewhere along the way I shed my aprons. I don't think I have one any more.

Re:
Thanks, spinner. It's true, I do doubt my grandchildren even know what an apron is. We certainly remember, don't we?

Maggie
Oh how well do I remember. My dear sweet grandmother had her baking aprons and then she had her aprons for when company arrived and then she had these really divine aprons that were see through with lace. I received these when she passed away and have never had the occasion to wear them...I mean these days a woman wears an apron in the bedroom to look like a maid and this turns men on. Hmmm, their is a post in this comment somewhere now isn't there!? Wonderful post my dear

Alienfemale took the words right off my keyboard. Nostalgic yes, the anecdote at the end was priceless. I use my apron in my bicycle shop to hold my tools when I am repairing bike for kids! Would the picture not come up? I hope you can get that one going! sam

She'd come home from picking field mushrooms with it full and a triumphant grin on her face. I have one I brought with me. The first time I cooked for dear Wiley I put it on. Yes, he loved it and YES I was wearing something underneath.
