Whysper,
Your assessment of Senator McCain mirrors mine! I am not sure getting shot down after a bombing run elevates you to "war" hero status!

I agree with most of this

The part that always irks me, is portraying John McCain as a famous war hero. Yes he served in Vietnam theater, but as we were told over and over in those tense days, it wasn't a war, it was a police action. And what was John McCain famous for? Being a Prison of War, yes I think highly of him, but I have a problem labeling a POW a war hero only because he survived his internment.

Eight years ago, I would have jumped at the chance to vote for McCain. Four years ago, I would have gladly voted for him. Today? Not a chance, he sold out to the Bush administration and backed the wrong horse. He's no different than any other politician in Washington and that just doesn't equate to 'famous war hero'.

Obama is riding a wave that clearly could take him to the White House. If he has no agenda other than change when he gets there, we'll be in a world of hurt. Still I'll hitch my wagon to the young kid from Illinois and hope for the best, merely because that is the one thing we need more than anything else in this terrible time of War and Recession. Hope.
