Holy Grail! Holy! I have not been here in forever...
I started writing for a living and figured if I was going to write, I might as well write for moey so Blogit fell by the wayside. Fortunately for me, I kept on paying my dues and it is still here for me.
I am at a point though where I have taken on writing for individualized assignments rather than on spec, so I now need a more creative outlet and here I am back again!

Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you around here in forever! Of course I'm not around much....I'm so glad she woke up, crying or not. That's kind of what I thought my one and only time. Anethesia is
scary. I have a friend who lost a puppy to it, just getting neutered. My one time under it, I didn't laugh or cry (I was only about 14) but I just thought "damn, my mouth hurts but I want tater tots!"

I'm glad everything is OK in the end. I have become increasingly more aware of anesthesia concerns. Polio survivors often react differently (usually need lower dosage) than others to anesthesia. And very few doctors are up to date on the needs of polio survivors. While I was in the hospital when I got my twin tubes, I fortunately had no trouble. But unknown to each other, a friend who also had bulbar polio coded twice while in ICU. It was because they gave her a med she had said she can't take. This is one of my little soapboxes. I want doctor's to be more concenred about their individual patients!! And inform us better about the possibilities to expect! Marie

I didn't wake up laughing or crying. I woke up and was extremely glad
that I did, knowing before I went under that many deaths in the OR are due directly and indirectly to anaesthesia and its administration. No, I was simply relieved that I woke up...

Drug are not...
my favorites. I was one that woke crying after my wisedom teeth were pulled, not because of pain, (they severed my nerves along my jaw) but, becase of the presure that had bulit in my face from swelling over night. I thought I wasn't going to be able to breath. Glad to know that she is doing better.

Drugs suck...
...obviously you need them but the side effects can be so awful. Anesthesia makes me vomit..for days and days on end. Ugh! Glad your daughter is over the worst of it...teeth..ugh!

I could be wrong, but I think that most contain some type of amnesia drug so that you don't remember. I hope she is doing much better!!

This is a difficult time for a youngster and all the loving you can give will make all the difference. Another good thing is that the memory fades with time. I have had three children go through this surgery! sam

Way back in the olden days
When I had my wisdom teeth pulled I woke up crying hysterically. It was so odd but the doc then let me know that this particular anesthesia has this effect on women and men. My ex woke up balling his eyes out to, but that may have been because I tried scaring him to death before he went in? And yes, every 'body' reacts differently with even small amounts of anesthesia, one lady I know cannot have Novicane from the dentist because she has stroke like symptoms for days to follow. It's all in our individual DNA and sometimes in the specific Anesthesia itself....like Booze, we all get drunk after a certain amount, it's upon waking that we discover just how differently booze effects us.
