Most places don't want the staples or paper clips used when you submit payments, not ever the IRS. It's scarey not to attach it, but if that's what they want, that's what I do. It's more work for them to take it apart, that's the reason, plus they've got staples and paper clips running out their ears. GOOD FOR THEM! Anyways, the taletail piece of your check saved the day. Hooray for you and Bo. 
BTW, proof of what operation?????? hahahaha A for you and for Bo.
