Extremely vivid and powerful description of feeling trapped... I wonder though - do
we sometimes create the very ball and chain that cuts so deeply; that we want to free ourselves from.

I used to have dreams of trying to overcome insane obstacles
trying to reach and touch only to be cut away from my goal at the last moment...always so close to attaining then it all slips into that damnable mist of being thrown from the Dream into the unsettling state of consciousness...very good poem, my friend!
