Back in the sixties, I began drinking coffe black w/a tiny bit o sugar.

I was being trained to stuff candy in vending machines by a veteran vending machine stuffer. (cigarette) He saw me adding cream and told me that if I didn't want to get terminal heartburn, I should skip adding cream. He hadn't steered me wrong on anything else and he drank GALLONS of coffee, so I cut out the cream. Now for a giant mug, I add a level spoonful of sugar. Wonderful! I often drink a whole pot all by myself in three hours.

Marilyn drinks hers (brace yourself!) in a regular size cup, with 5 heaping spoonfuls of sugar and two heaping spoonfuls of creamer. (plastic fat!) The stirring spoon can stand up, unsupported, in the cup both before and after adding the coffee! Gag! Retch! Hurl!

W&B
I'm with WileyJohn, on this, Whacky.  I've never heard of a carrel - is that where you herd horses?

Whacky
I drink only one large cup of latte in the morning, after I had my tea. I know that's weird, but I like it that way. And the 'Drink' that's not allowed in the library is probably beer and scotch - can't have drunks staggering around in the stacks..., and a scratch behind the ears for Bo...

Whacky, I do just about everything accompanied by coffee.  Black and hot is my preference.  I can't stand it if someone puts sugar in it.  Sweet coffee makes me want to spew it out of my mouth in disgust.  LOL

I adore coffee; regular, flavored, with cream, no sugar please..:)

The fragrance of it recalls many things for myself, from childhood to the midnight shift working at the hospital. Great post, Whacky.

Hi to Bo or woof..:)

Oh, Whacky girl, I have many memories of coffee and good company...........

I'd like to have a cup with you, but I prefer flavored cream or Bailey's in it.  I can drink it black, hot or cold, but I like the cream.

A  for you and a  for Bo the hunk!

Coffee!
I started drinking coffee made from beans when I moved to washongton DC in the late 70s.  Before that in Ohio all we had was instant coffee.  In India growing up that's hwat I had too.  But in south India there is a long tradition of coffee bean drinking.  But, I lived in the east of India. I satrted because I loved its aroma, which spread all over the house.  In Italy - as you can imagine - it was all over the place. Now, back in India, we haev an espresso coffee machine which we use everyday for coffee, morning and night.  For me it's comfort, memories and pure pleasure!
