The bad thing about it
Often times the person who is beign discriminated against never finds out.... since salary is considered confidential, some people assume that they are being paid the same as their counterparts.

It might be a little shrill, but it's dead on correct.
I can't argue with it, even if you weren't my adopted sister. Besides, you do it so well!

Wow! It started off 'shrill,' Krisles, but once you got your rant out of the way it became mellower. I remember when I used to touch type on the old Royal, and on my fairly new second-hand electronic typewriter, but now I find I spend most of my time looking at the screen, then looking down at the keyboard, then looking up and etc.
Last week I promised myself to re-learn touch typing. A geek friend in the UK learned it from scratch, and said it had improved his life tremendously, but then he writes programmes all day.

Boy, Krisles. You were really wound up here. LOL. Glad I'm not working with Charley. Actually, I'm glad I'm not working with anyone anymore. Reading this makes me thankful that I'm retired.

(they need a little white-haired wrinkled granny emoticon for me. LOL)

I was working the same job as my male counterparts for 3 years and earning roughly 35% less when I finally mustered up the courage (or tempered rage) to approach management. When I used the term female discrimination , within 1 month my salary was increased to align with the men. I think a lot of men live in lah lah land and think such disparities no longer exist. Good rant....

I'm for a meritocracy, but it seems we're drifting the other way.
There seems to be such a gap between the uppercrust and middle-management that the head honchos don't even know what is best for business and what isn't. They've lost touch. Definitely there is a gender bias, but good business should trump the gender agenda. If it doesn't make more dollars, it doesn't make any sense.
I'm always telling anyone who will listen that our brightest minds are focusing all their attention on building a better video game, or computer graphics, etc.... it's crazy. We need to prioritize. While the best and brightest were creating Super Mario Bros. 87 some nobody named
John Kanzius was curing cancer with two pie plates and a hot dog. We need to pay attention to what works, no matter what glands the efficient person in question is in possession of. The priority is excellence. Or at least it should be.

I worked many years at the same level of my colleagues and for far less money. I think it was called "peanuts." sam

You have answered a question for me.........something I've been lying in bed thinking about. My sister is working in this same type of environment (she complains to me regularly), and now I know why she drinks too much.....too often......and she's getting worse.
Thanks for the insight. (3:08 am)

We're so far
from equality in any form in the workplace, that it's depressing.
