Thanks for the clarification. Yes, now I get it. We do it a lot here, with shrinking spaces. My husband often says we should grow vegetables in containers. Maybe we will - this year.

Greenfields, What a colorful box. We call them mail boxes here. They still have them placed all around town and outside of the post office. Ours are blue. I don't use them often, but realized after reading this how much I missed the hand written notes and letters we all used to send. This was a very wonderful post. ~Peace, OTA

I can't imagine the grand feeling of visiting an ancient town. It sends mind on a magical tour of the ancient world.
Container gardening became famous or widely used during World War II because it was difficult to get fresh vegetables. People would grow mine gardens on their patios in containers. There are plants and seeds that are specific to container growing. So essentially plant a garden on the patio. sam

I agree that it is cost that is driving people to alternatives such as online and phone. I sometimes miss the act of writing on beautoful paper, specially picked out for people, writing and addressing the stationery and putting a nice stamp on it.

Interesting post. no pun intended loll. Here in Miami Beach, USA we mostly E-mail. But if we do write a snail letter, it is always put in a box :-) no couriers here unless you count the mailmen/women who do not take kindly at one handing them stuff, I think that started with the amtrax scare a few years back. In any case we do put them in boxes and they pick them up from there and send them to which ever other box we have addressed them to. Your post is great! Thank you.

God Lord, a courrier comes by???
I wish I lived in India! And I do, really, for lots of other reasons (have a look at my favourite author list...)! I think I'll write a piece on posting in France to show the difference... I was so pleased you read my organic vegetables piece, and thank you for your welcome. I admire your writing and value your comments.

yes, sometimes
I do have a post office close to where I work and I often will stop by. Since the cost of stamps is going up, I think most people are doing everything online or by phone.
