My dad used to tell me this, when I was feeling down, or just needed a hug:
I love you, just because you are. Not because of what you do, or how well you do it. Not because of what you might become, or what you have been. I love you just because you are you, and that's enough.

it isn't easy always being the one to be there, is it? I hope you are having some down time now and then.. you've reminded me how once, while quite largely pregnant with my second, I somehow twisted my knee climbing up to clean a window .. I called out to my four year old daughter, who was amazing. just having another warm (though small) body to hold was enough.

Overwhelmed. Yes,
I understand. I think this is why sometimes people attach themselves to television. It's a needless object, which sometimes takes you to places you only wish you were. I really dislike watching tv, but I can see why it is so attractive to children. Not that this has anything to do with your blog, but it's what I thought of. I hope you get a little break. Have a nice weekend.

yup, sometimes you just have to stand in front of someone and say,
" I need a long and sympathetic hug today, a sincerely empathetic and friendly hug from you today, then you can get back to business, but not before my hug!"
It is scary to ask, scary to admit the need, scary to await the other's decision to hug or not to hug, but it must be spoken out loud periodically, for everyone's good.
Tell each person you meet in only one day and then, get over it.....because we women are only allowed just so much time for our needs, sigh.
I remember, way back when I was younger, needing that understanding and looking around me and finding no one but my mom and fearing admitting to her, but, I did and she did hug and it felt better.
I am so glad that I hardly ever need any hugs or reassurances now, but I have turned into shoe leather, old tough shoe leather from the lack of hugs in that lifetime....

I know very well the power of hugs
They really ought to be part of the recommended daily allowance
And enforced with fervor by the love police
BTW You are amazing!

Azur, you're a wonderful writer and an island of sanity in a tumultuous sea
you've given inspiration to fellow writers and made sense of chaos. If there's no gratitude or grand awards ceremony going in your household it's because because you exude tranquil confidence and stability. There's nothing wrong with telling your kid "I need a hug." Not only would a hug make you feel a hundred percent better, it will do wonders for the kid -- a two-fer. And meanwhile, there's long-distance hugs like Taps' and a side order of envy from those of us who aren't facing deadlines and having to get so much done. Way to go, Azur!

Keep writing!!!

That's a hug. I know its not the one you really want. You need it from real arms, and you need real whispers from ones you love telling you how important you are and how much you are appreciated. But, even though that's the best I can do, it is from my heart.
