I come bearing gifts, first my love, second, my favorite poet Langston Hughes. I post a poem of his nearly every day. I learned how to write poetry from studying him. He is our most translated American poet at my last inquiry. He is renowned for being poet laureate for African Americans but I say he poet laureate for American literature in poetry. When my daughter was in high school I was quite ill, she had to literally care for me and when she dusted she would preface going near my Hughes' books as: 'I know mom, Langston has to be close to your heart.' I am sure you are familiar with everything I have said but I so love to talk about him.

I Dream a World

   by Langston Hughes

I dream a world where man

No other man will scorn,

Where love will bless the earth

And peace its paths adorn.

I dream a world where all

Will know sweet freedom's way,

Where greed no longer saps the soul

Nor avarice blights our day.

A world I dream where black and white,

Whatever race you be,

Will share the bounties of the earth

And every man is free,

Where wretchedness will hand its head

And joy, like a pearl,

Attends the needs of all mankind--

Of such I dream, my world!

Blessing my friend, I am pleased to make your acquaintance!  sam

Affirmation is so wonderful. I am so sorry that you have had to fight harder because of your color. It makes no sense to me at all. I would not have know your color had you not told me. I find you delightful. Also I am happy the poem I wrote for my pal vickip. was beneficial to you. I don't think a poet could ever be more highly honored. I am blessed by your presence at my blog.  sam

Positive Thoughts
Wish I could think that way.  Losing the love of my life has been the most devasting blow to me.
