Re: Tim Russert.
You may be right! But his attitude to 911 and other oily issues leads me to think that he obeyed his employers and interviewing style, notwithstanding, preserved his employment by loyalty to them. And we know who his employers were! Still, like Scott McLelland, who knows what games are afoot!

Tim Russert.

Soulman,

Every time I saw Russert conduct an interview, I had to guess which side he was arguing for or against. He was so impartial that I finally came to realize that he was trying ONLY to get at the truth. This is where he was so valuable to news coverage, revealing the truth. If someone he was interviewing, tried skirting the subject, baffling him with bullshit, blaming someone or something else, fabricating a cover story on the spot, Tim Russert caught the prevaricator, called him on it, and asked the same question, again. Tim was like a terrier with a favorite knotted chew/pull toy. His entire intellect was focused on being able to respectfully get to the bottom of what he thought every audience member would ask, if it was the audience, holding the microphone and asking the questions. He had a talent for being inoffensive but effective. Contrast him with Bill O'Reilly or Dan Rather, or more obviously, Rush Limbaugh or Morton Downey, and the difference is obvious to all. We are going to have to agree to disagree, on Tim Russert, my friend.

He was a singular, polished, many faceted jewel among a shovelfull of drab pebbles. Want to see a media whore? Check out Paul Harvey (the biggest of Republican apologists and corporate shills), all press secretaries, partisan lobbyists, corporate spokespersons, cabinet members, political party spokesmen or spokeswomen, Gloria Alred, Nancy Grace, Martha Stewart, military officers, the list would be many pages long. Tim Russert stood alone, at the very top of the heap.

Sorry, Soulman. Still friends, I hope?

Russert was a mainstream media lackey...though he exposed Hillary's 'sniper fire' debacle. Who owns the mainstream media! Hate to interject with truth.....but cest la vie!

I think people like that forge on and don't pay attention to their bodies, as opposed to me, who pays TOO much attention, I fear. Russert was fair and intelligent and quick on the draw - a journalist's journalist.
