Re: My mom would love this, I'm sure,
Ciel, that is so funny about your mom. My sister is married to an Irani and he says the wildest things about his homeland, radical ways to get rid of the present leader there, etc. and we all laugh about it, as it is just posturing, but we know he must be on some list.
When he or she sends us emails, we know that we have just been added to their FBI file of "contacts" and then believe that just about everyone in America must be on some dumb list somewhere....I march against the war and we are spied upon, I know...
Gosh, maybe they read my dumb blog posts here, ya think?? See? Too many of us idiots to watch, tho' I'm sure that they try their best.

My mom would love this, I'm sure,
andnext time we chat, I will tell her about it! She shares your mom's opinions on Mr Shrubby! Alarms me, sometimes, the things she shouts over the phone when she gets going-- she uses just the right flag-words to bring the FBI crashing into her retirement home...

Re: How sweet!
Decs, it took superhuman courage to be a Freedom Rider as they faced death all along the way and some were forever maimed and scarred and yet, some, when recovered, got back on that bus.
Amazing human beings and an example of how far some people must go to change their dissatisfactory world. One fellow said that you had to be willing to die to do some of the more dangerous Civil Rights civil disobedience behaviors.
We were a Generation on Fire and some of just warmed our hands on the fires of others and some of us turned to ashes in the flames.

My family has always been active in our beliefs, we try to walk our talk, even when we need a walker to do it.

How sweet!
I saw a program today about the Freedom Riders in the South and I cried. It was so important to take those freedom rides, but I was too young at the time....
