Pat, it really is the thought that counts! Sounds like you've got your kids trained pretty well--is there some bit of wisdom that you could teach me, for training my own "men"??

LOL Kabu! I should have thought of that earlier--Mark would not be amused if he got nothing but books under the tree! Talk about giving him a taste of his own medicine!

Re:
Nite,
That's horrible!! From now on, I'm going to make sure you get a great gift, just for you, every day. Starting now
! Just to make up for the missed presents through the years!
I totally agree with you though--I'd much rather pick out my own gifts, rather than get something I don't need or want (or like...).
Thanks for reading darling

Sira, what a fun read. Sorry I'm about two days late getting to it. Better late than never. LOL I've read Dan Brown. He does keep one moving along.

I think what I appreciate most is the thoughtfulness behind the gift.
When my baby boy got me the tee shirt with "careful or you'll end up in my novel" it made me laugh. There was an old gray mare the kids got me once when I was in my late 30s -- complete with a yellow straw hat. She still sits on my night stand.

So next year buy Mark books that you want to read and tell Mum to do the
same. This was such a fun read.I was half amused, half angry with such selfish men. Part smug cos I've got darling Wiley and totally glad you enjoyed Marley and me. It's the only book I think where I laughed and cried on the same page.

hahahha, this was such a joy to read!! I loved reading about your self-gifting father and husband, that just cracked me up!! I can't even imagine how I would feel if that ever happened to me. I don't have a husband, but every year my father gives me nothing...

But then again, he is the type to let my mother take care of it.....which is still giving me nothing. LOL. And I think I like getting nothing (and buying it myself) to getting something that is obviously not for me.
