Okay RSM this is a long one

Yes I have a backbone but I also have a great sense of integrity and that is why I believe in doing what is RIGHT and that is getting or people out of Iraq, which we never should have gotten involved with to begin with. All we have done by going into Iraq is making the problems worse and helping Bin Laden in his efforts to destabilize the regions and we actually attacked HIS enemies. Sorry, but the Muslims running Iraq were NOT on Bin Laden's side. So by doing what we have done in Iraq, we have aided those who attacked us on 9/11. And it is not pansy to say ';We've done all we can, it is just a waste of our money and people to stay.' The Iraq government say they want us out of here so they can take over and show the people that Iraq is NOT being run by the USA, that alone will calm things down greatly. But you don't care about doing what is right, because due to the immature attitude we see in Bush and McCain that says 'We have to win', you don't want to be reasonable. I still have no idea what the 'victory' conditions in Iraq really are. We have taken out he old government, put in a new one and been training their people to take over for us, and the Iraq government feels it is time for us to leave. Obama would rather make us not be occupying a nation that is wanting us to move on, because they believe that is what is best. Instead Obama would rather actually focus on finally going after the terrorists who directly attacked us and make sure they don't get to do such a thing again. It sounds to me like you guys just want to keep on fighting because you don't know what else to do. You see while there have been Muslim groups who have hated us for some time now, before we started to get involved in their affairs, things were actually very calm in the Middle East, but the western world intruded and got them all pissed off. When we invaded Iraq a bunch of the non-radicals crossed the line because they saw that we were doing what they have been told we would do.

Mocking or not, you just don’t get it. You can have a great car, the greatest car out there but it still can be changed for the better. By saying this country needs to be changed he is not saying that it is not a great country. He is just pointing out the truth that Bush has caused our inner workings to be gummed up and so things are not running like they should and we are all seeing this. His plans make sense to fix all the BS problems Bush has created. Bush gave the rich tax cuts and what happened? The average wages went down. People are making less per hour now than they were when the taxes were higher. So the working class is already suffering because Big Businesses seem to think they should be rewarded for making things harder on our economy. And Bush seems to think that’s the way to go. And McCain seem to be saying he’ll keep this pattern up. So if things keep going as they are, the rich will get more tax cuts under McCain and the average wages will drop even more and our economy is pulled under by unaccountability and rising national debt. And You will stand up and cheer for all of this blindly without looking at the real impact. If you raise the taxes and start to pull the economy together, and then follow the examples of Obama’s past tax legislation that said you give tax cuts to the businesses that are helping to build the American economy, then you will see the needed growth as companies are rewarded for doing what is right.

McCain looks to be as clueless as it gets. He is old and he shows he is old and not willing to try and catch up with the modern world. He openly admits to his lack of understanding in economics and does not care about social issue in general. He seems to have no plans beyond sitting on his ass and letting everything go as it has been, which under Bush has been downhill. He says he would keep us as a occupying force in Iraq just to do for a hundred years if he could, which says he is not going to look for a real solution or a way out over there. I see this guy as being about the most inactive President ever if we as a nation are foolish enough to allow him into office. I not figured out why he is being called Liberal. I would call him a ‘nothing’ because he really seems to stand for nothing. He just wants the title President and seems to have no plans to try and do anything of value if he gets that title.

Have you ever actually been attacked by a radical Muslim in your life? Do you know anyone who has been? Sorry buddy, but radical Muslims attacks here in the USA DO NOT HAPPEN. Now I do know of people who have been attack by Radical Christians. I have personally been threaten with physical violence by Christians myself for doing nothing more than being an atheist, I did not try to start anything nor did I tell them they were wrong in any way, it just came up that I was an atheist. Radical Christians have caused more death and property damage here in the USA than Radical Muslims, with the one exception of 9/11. I am talking about the bombings that are part of the historic facts of this country over the last few decades. The Okalahoma City bombing was a radical Christian. Should we go through the news reports? I can promise you without a shadow of a doubt that you will find next to nothing about Radical Muslims commit any form of attacks here on US soil, but I can find many reports of radical Christians committing all manner of terrorist activity here in the USA. Here is one and here is another. Do you want me to do on with this? The simple FACT is that there is not snowballs chance in hell that you will ever have Muslim radicals at your door threatening your life or your family. It just does not happen. But statistic however, there is a much greater chance that you or a loved one would be caught up in the actions of a Christian Radical, because Christian Terrorists are something we have here in the USA.

You pointed out the bigger problem there. They had to pick one day or the other for the full plant, because they couldn't run it for a day only partially staffed. The majority of the workers are Muslim and the vote won with 80% wanting to change the paid holiday.

As for the patriotic part, we are a great melting pot of ideas and cultures, that is America. What could be more patriotic than making sure our citizens are able to celebrate the holidays that are important to them? I know of no one who really does anything special on Labor Day. It is just an extra day off that most people take for granted, if they even get the day off.

Frankly, what I think Tyson should have done is given people the choice

You may take Labor day or the muslim day (whatever it's called). Choose whichever one you want as your holiday. Of course, that would screw up the shift work but it would be the most equitable. There are some of us who still have patriotic thoughts about Labor day and would be very upset if it was exchanged for a Muslim religious day.

The funny part of this is that I just agreed with you and your son's idea of freedom. You always spout off about Christians trying to take away your freedom but yet when I state the same thing you don't get it at all. Amazing! I would shoot my shotgun, if I had one, out my window to defend your and my rights if I had to but obviously you would not even do that. Thanks for proving my point. You spout off all the time about how Bush and conservatives are taking away your freedom but the real issue here is you hate conservatives. You would not fight for freedom if it came down to it. Do you realize that these people have been hating us for decades? I am just talking about the recent history at that. There will always be Muslims hating us whether or not we gget out now or even if there wasn't a war at all. That is a mute point! Wake up! The hell with worrying about offending someone! This nation did not get where it is today by worrying about whether England would not like us or whether Japan would like us or not or wether Germany would like us or not.
I did not mock Obama. I simply stated what he said. I can not help that your candidate is a idiot. I hope you’ll join me as we try to change it.” To make the statement that he made is unbelievable. No mocking here just simple truth that you obviously dislike greatly. Obama wants to give us an up grade? By suggesting we inflate our tires as an energy plan? Obama wants to give us a tune up? By taxing us to death? The taxes will come from the middle class no matter what a lawyer like Hussein Obama tells you. He claims he will tax the rich. If by some chance he actually would do that to the extent he says he will do you know what that will do to the middle class and poor? If a rich man who owns a business is taxed more who do you think gets the cutbacks? Wake up, or is it you have no public sector experience? Who do you think will suffer? The rich man? Radical Christians? In 47 years, I can never remember a time while at church that we organized a militia to attack people and demand that they convert or else. Who are these Christians who have attacked the World Trade Center, who are these Christians who have attacked buses with suicide missions, who are these Christians who have hijacked planes, who are these Christians who have taken up arms against the United States military? Who are they? Where are they? Are you talking about some nut job in Texas in a commune? Are you talking about some idiot who brainwashes hundreds if not thousand of people to drink purple koolaide after having sex with all the women? All we are doing by staying in Iraq is producing MORE radical Muslims. The sooner we actually work with Iraq to allow them to have their own country, the sooner we can show those groups they are wrong about us. That would help tot keep down the number of radical Muslims out there.

And once more you have to drag up the "join me to try and change it" of Obama's. But that just shows that you don't care at all about what Obama stands for but are just looking for childish ways to mock him.

Something can be the greatest, but needs to be changed. right now due to all the damage Bush has done to our country, we need someone to take over who will work hard at repairing all that has been done and making changes that will hopefully keep such damage form being done in the future. Obama wants to give the country a 'tune-up' and an 'up grade' so that it runs smoother. That is change for the better.

And really, if you look at who is running just because he wants to be President and really that is it, look at McCain. He seems to just want to be president because he wants to be president. He admits to being clueless on so many issues and really seems to not want to commit to doing anything, but instead will just let it all go as it has been. He really seems to be saying 'I want to be president, but I do anything at all as President." I am just going off of what he says and his ideas and it really seems clear he wants to be a very inactive President who will do NOTHING at all if he gets elected. Now that is scary.

And you should be more afraid of radical Christians marching through the streets of our country, threaten your freedoms than Muslims. Any time I hear someone spit out the kind of nonsensical BS you just did about needing a shotgun to fend off radical Muslims here in the USA, I know I am talking to someone with a very weak sense of reality. Here in the USA statistically you are much more likely to find your life in danger due to a radical Christians coming after you (NO matter what your faith is) than Muslims, and you see this is provable FACT. not some paranoid propaganda.

However, apparently from the story the whole company voted on this and it passed. Your comment is exactly what I have said all my life and have been ridiculed for it. As a supporter of Jesse Helms, I was ridiculed as a racist, now this! So if you read my response to this incident, I agree that if all voted for the holiday then so be it. Isn't that the Democracy way? Remember WWII? Remember how many Japs came here to live and their families still live here today? I see this as the same. THAT IS WHY WE CONTINUE THE WAR SHOVE THE IDIOT OBAMA ASIDE THEN WIPE OUT THE RADICAL MUSLIMS! GET IT? No matter how much you wish for people not to come here, they will and why? We are the greatest nation on earth! The only problem is Obama himself said this followed by "join me to try and change it". Obama is an idiot! Labor Day was instituted at the behest of Labor Unions, which cons detest

RSM and Cantey probably have such a mind toward Unions. Same attitude as toward Democrats.

It honors the American Labor Movement.

Many people still work on Labor Day, as evidenced by store ads.

The contract must have been ratified by the Christian Union members also, since the article mentions that 250 are Muslim, and a majority of the 1,000 Union members ratified it, So it's far from Muslims ramming their wishes down others' throats.

And I do believe that people should receive time off for religious observance. It wasn't too long ago that getting Jewish holidays off was quite difficult -- they weren't respected as Christian holidays were. People who were not in the Christian mainstream were (and still are) considered odd.

As you would have others treat you, that's how you should treat others.

Looks like our resident Christians want to throw the Golden Rule out the window in this case.

But they seem to turn a blind eye to a lot that Jesus said.

They are not stamping anything out. The company they work for only gives 8 paid holidays a year. They decided that it was more important to them to get Eid al-Fitr off as a paid holiday than Labor Day. It would be next to impossible to get the company to add a new paid holiday just for them, so they made a switch.

it does not at all mean they are saying Labor Day is a holiday that should not be celebrated, just that it is not as important to them as the traditional holiday of their people, which is much older than Labor Day.

They are not taking anything by force, but are finding comfort in making reasonable compromises that do no harm to either side.

All of American culture has been created bit by bit through assimilation ideas, holidays, beliefs and so on of the various cultures of the world that blend together here. History has shown that we are strong mostly because we are so open to allowing such diversity. Are you going to say the Jews are wrong for taking time off from work and School for their holidays, which are not 'traditional' American holidays?

I agree with you about radical Muslims. In fact I say we teat the radicals of ALL religions that way. Any religious group who tries to force their beliefs on others in any manner, such as trying to get their religious symbols and ideas displayed in government buildings or trying to get prayer to be accepted in the public schools and so on. Any religious group that is trying that hard to force their religious ideas on everyone else needs to be stopped.

Of course I have yet to meet any Muslims who have any ill wishes for me or my family. I have however met my fair share of Christians who have wished me harm though. And considering that if one looks at the odds, it is more likely that me or a members of my family will be murdered in cold blood by a Christian than a Muslim, I am not really worried about Muslims doing any harm to me.

Now I never claimed YOU were one of the Conservatives who felt that way, but if you read the article I linked to, you will see that there have been many who have over reacted on this one. Once more, when I talk about Conservatives or Christians on white men or humans and so on, I am not automatically assuming you fit the mold of which I speak of. I make no such generalizations that all of certain groups follow the same way of thinking to the letter. You are not all conservatives.

Also, they are not celebrating their holiday on Labor Day, they are talking their holiday off instead of taking Labor Day off.

Atheist don't need nay special days because we make what we wish to of the holidays. Christmas is a non-religious holiday for me where the focus is on giving and being with the family. Give me any day off and I will make what I will of it, no matter what the traditional holiday may be for that day.

Grasping For Straws

It seems that you stretching this one out of shape to try to make a point. I am an American Conservative Republican Christian, which you know, and if the Muslims wish to have their holiday then they have a right to voice their concerns. I have no problem with this. What I do have a problem with is the radical Muslims who demand you convert or die. That is what I have a huge problem with and why I am 100% for the war against the radical Muslims who wish to inflict their hatred and killing upon all of us, your family included.

However, we must examine what you have found here. Could these Muslims be "clinging to their religion"? Of course they are and rightfully so. What do you have to say about a Reverend's birthday being a national holiday? Do you have a problem with that? I choose to celebrate my Lord and Saviour on Christmas Day. These Muslims wish to celebrate their religious beliefs on Labor Day. Seems okay by me. I have no problem with this at all. Inclusive means all people and all beliefs. Do you as an atheist wish to have a day? Then so be it!
