Call a spade a spade... between you and me and the deep blue sea... it's a sucky poem.

The key to understanding the 'real illusion'
is that death is very real to the body: life leaves it, abandons it, empties from it, and it changes, returns to the component atoms and energies from which it was made. In the terms I work with, it is of Earth's energy, and returns to that source.
Death is illusion to a soul that has forgotten it is, in fact, spirit, and has taken on the body's point-of-view. It experiences the realness of death, only to discover that it does not apply to the soul, when it remembers its own actual immortality.
This is what I believe: "You don't have a soul. You are a soul, and you have a body." Getting that notion turned around opened the universe to me!

Re: :"Death is a real illusion."
This is true. I find it hard to believe that death i an illusion, although that's what Depak Chopra says and I do like his books. But even though I think it's only too real, I do believe that our essence - the real 'us' - goes on to some new kind of existence.

:"Death is a real illusion."
Real to the body, illusion to the soul... difficult for those who aren't sure about the soul. or who believe it irrelevant or non-existant, to take any comfort there. They are stuck only with the reality of it.
