No recovery possible, no way to release it from the sticky fly trap thing. I will never use one of those again.

Sorry to hear about your Mom. And I am familiar with the reluctance to see doctors! Crazy as it sounds, the only times I wouldn't mind visiting the doctor is when I am perfectly well, and then there's no need, of course. But I always feel a tinge of embarrassment when I have a health problem, which happens rarely, I am happy to say...
And, like you, I actually like bats - I find them fascinating, aside from being highly useful...and I hope the little guy recovered form his ordeal...
