- Go to McCain Looking More and More Desperate...
Jane,
I can certainly see why you feel that way, where I am terrified by the thought of these Republicans having another 4 years to wreak havoc on our economy, our overseas relationships and the environment of the planet, the democratic process in this country, the hopes and hearts of Americans who expect both honesty and good sense from their government...
I respect John McCain as a man, a patriot, a person of integrity, but I think he is just plain wrong for this country at this time. I arrived at this conclusion before choosing between Clinton and Obama. And no matter what Palin's character, she is most definitely not the person I would place one heart attack away from the Presidency.
The sheer cynicism of choosing her--because she is supposed to get the vote by seeming to be the Good Republican version of Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, as Dan Quayle was chosen because he looked a bit like Redford, and could bring in the female vote... (Don't harangue me about that--Bush said that straight out when he announced the choice!)--What a slap in the face to America, to believe that we would vote so stupidly, that women are so easily manipulated with so little substance!

Re: I'll say he does!
Have you guys REALLY looked at her record and all that she has done? I honestly believe he chose her for the RIGHT reasons, and not simply because she's a woman. She has accomplished quite a lot. She's a fighter. A woman of conviction. And certainly far more than just a pretty face.
Her speech had far more substance than Nobama's, and sorry kingmi, I know you don't appreciate that expression. It's just me saying "NO" to Obama. It is absolutely saying nothing as to his race. I would have been thrilled to have someone like Colin Powell for pres. But to have the most liberal Demo from the Senate as our next pres is frightening.

I'll say he does!
Typical of Republicans of the past several years, to choose a running mate for all the wrong reasons!
How can anyone possibly believe Palin should be that silly little heartbeat away from guiding this country? There is nothing that she can bring to this race but some voters who vote for all the wrong reasons! Like, for a woman because she is a woman, or a black man because he is black...
McCain picked Palin, I think, because he couldn't ask Hillary. And he probably decided right after Michelle Obama's speech that he needed a soccer mom more than anything!
