- Go to OLD FASHIONED ADDING MACHINE!
That was the kind of machine that made me want to be an
accountant when I was a little girl. I loved pulling the handle down and the sound that it made at my elementary school friend's Chinese Market. His grandfather used an abacus. That was cool, too, as he was really fast with it.

Whacky & Bo
I used to use a similar one, Whacky, but it wasn't battery powered or electrically powered. But the one I used most was digital - each finger represented a number from 1 to 10.

Whacky, I can remember when I statred working back in '66, we all
had adding machines very similar to this...they weren't fancy, could do the basics, and that was all we really needed in Inventory...

I saw the one in the previous post!
And it occurred to me that you constantly have to add things to an adding machine! To this one you have to add rolls of paper and ink, to the new-fangled ones you have to add batteries - adding things and adding things, and it's all adding up...

, and a pat to the Woofer...

G-d I am so old!!! I used to have one of those years ago. I actually loved it...it was practical and never broke...needed no batteries or power... it was a little heavy... not very portable but small enough that it could be moved around if need be. Great post Whacky :-)

The store that I used to help out
before I moved still had one of those. We used it to keep track of the bottle returns.

My dad had one of those...
Maybe his was a little more complex. I think its the one he invented the lunar time system on... He also had a tiny little film splicer that was pretty cool.
