Bel, Naut's right, unfortunately..it's still heard here in Canada, too..
maybe the same word, or others that should have been silenced long ago..

It's a sad fact, but racism is alive and well in this world, and certainly not only in the US. And in many parts of the world it takes forms that would surprise you...

Those who blurt such things are a disrespect to themselves! Did you go to the Walmart in St. Ignace? I love Castle Rock, have all my life! sam

I was shocked last night when Mr. King on his programme asked a
question of his guest that was "off" in a racial way. Your experience saddens me and distresses me very much.

Re: Lustorlove
I grew up in a home that the word was used very casually. I do realize there was a time that it was used commonly, I like to believe that today we have learned better, but sadly not all have figured out how ridiculous this behavior really is.

I was floored to hear it used and even worse used so comfortably. I hate ignorance.

But we needn't lose hope Bel. There are people who have gone farther and I
guess it will be a matter of time before we all go farther than we have

I was surprised to read that there are still people out there who would use "the word". Like you, I thought we had progressed well beyond such
overt racism. It is sad, if not pathetic.

Bel, A lot of people have come a long way from that, but some (sad to say) never will because they don't want to. Also sad to say, most of "them" have children who will follow in their footsteps. All we can really do is teach our children well and set a good example.

Heck, I was shocked when I heard that people still use the F word
for gay people.

Some people have not come farther than this. Take heart in the fact that it shocked you. If you accepted it as normal then things would be beyond hope. And good for you for speaking. If enough people speak well maybe it begins too shift people like that, or at least keep them quiet.
