Obviously you have no idea about our history.
"In God We Trust' was not on all of our money until eh beginning of this last century. It is NOT part of our founding ideas. As far as I am concerned it shouldn't be there and it is an insult to our country and actually to believers. After all God really should have nothing to do with money and just the idea that God gives a crap about our money should be viewed as an insult if you believe in God.
Just as 'Under God ' was NOT originally in the Pledge of Allegiance, and the writer of the Pledge was greatly insulting when that was added since he understood the idea of religious freedom and felt it was wrong to make any reference to God in such a pledge.

I think it was Ghandi who was asked what he thought of
separation of church and state in the US, and he said something to the effect of-- It's a good idea, you should try it!
As long as we all take for granted the basics of Christian religious tradition as the basis of American life, we will not have that separation. When we don't uniformly take Sundays and the Christian holidays off, when 'blue laws' are off the books, when we drop the mention of God from all government documents and statements, and when we stop treating science, when it disagrees with dogma, as a matter of opinion, then maybe we will be there.
