OH!
This is called an octopus here in Japan and I used to cut the kids' sausages like this for their lunches under the assumption that it is cute and the kids love their suasages looking like little octopuses, but I never got any comments if they really liked them like that or not so I stopped.

Oh, my!! Well, that does put an interesting spin on an American favorite.
Besides, I've always preferred my minced mystery meat posed in the shape of a banana.

Looks good!
In Japan, most packed lunches (
obento) are prepared to look cute. Among the foods found in a lunch box is called a
tako wiina or octopus wiener-- hotdogs cut in half and made to look like a little octopus. Check it out by searching through Google.
