- Go to The Economy Is Crap -- Ann Ain't As Crazy As You All Thought. . . . . . . .
Re: Re: Re: mousehop, re-read it -- Coulter said "the poor and minorities"
It has. But fundamentally, I agree that this crisis was created by government interference in the market, though I blame those who created Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and all the Congresses and Presidents who kept them going all these years. And the corporate bosses who thought taking bad risks was a good idea because ultimately the government would bail them out when they lost everything. Too bad they were right.

mousehop, a view of the stats, as you requested in previous comment, would be very interesting and eye opening. It has undoubtedly affected all financial "classes."

CL, thanks for stopping by. I agree that Ann is not given the credit she deserves. Her tongue is wicked, but her insight is generally right on target.

People disassociate themselves from Ann Coulter, because...
like any good satirist, she takes liberty with hyperbole. So she's labeled -- even by conservatives -- as "an extremist" or a "right-wing bombthrower," but it's really unfortunate, because she's one of the most insightful (inciting) political commentators around. It's not like the Left is lacking in over-the-top, controversial opinions. I don't remember Ann ever threatening to have her "big black brothers" gang-rape any Democrat candidates, like Sandra Bernhard. Coulter goes over the line occasionally, but Bill Maher aims to cross that line once a week, and he's the toast of the town in media circles. Ann Coulter is brilliant.
Good find, JanesO. The longer we study Clinton's legacy, the more shady he's revealed to have been -- which is mind-boggling.

Re: mousehop, re-read it -- Coulter said "the poor and minorities"
A good many of these bad mortgages are not taken by the poor. In my neighborhood, for example, lots of people have been getting mortgages on which they pay only interest (no principal) for the first few years. Now, with the value of the homes dropping, and the principal coming due, their plans to pay for a few years, interest only, then sell at a profit, won't work. So they get stuck, unable to meet the payments. And the median home price in this community is about $500 thousand dollars. This is the kind of thing that led to this crisis. It was caused by a mistaken belief that real estate prices would continue to rise.

The mess that has arisen is killing the sale of my house! I feel for folks too, but I am furious that we are in this predicament and those that have paid faithfully are getting reamed. It is indeed sad. I think your comments are so on! The article nailed it as well. sam

JanesO, who was it just the other day, implying
The Bush Adm. Was at fault by saying "...this is the result of a certain ideology". I must've misinterpreted that. Ann has the goods on Bubba.

mousehop, re-read it -- Coulter said "the poor and minorities"
I gave the example of a minority because this woman is the only patient of mine who has been asking for money.
Fact is, upper middle class, middle class, wealthy -- probably a majority of Americans have overextended themselves and are now dealing with the consequences. But I wanted to clarify that Coulter was referring to more than minorities as cause of the problem.

Statistics
So are you and Ms. Coulter suggesting that most of these bad mortgages were taken out by minorities? What do you base that claim on?
