It was a kind of simplifiied AUSLAN called MAKATON. I think its mainly used with non-verbal intellectually disabled people rather than the deaf but I think the symbols are the same as in AUSLAN. It was really interesting. I've certainly started learning new things from day one which is great!

Hey, you're learning Auslan? FANBLOODYTASTIC, mate! I found a website thanks to another Aussie mate of mine that will teach it to me. Three cheers for Peachy and LLM! I'll see if I can find you a site that will teach you ASL if you like. I'd do it myself if you wanted, but I don't have a webcam and anyway, mine's gone a bit rusty.
Not that this has anything to do with the rest of my comment, but did I tell you yet that I'm going to try and get certified to perform CPR? I also talked my friend in Ireland into taking a course in it, too.
