I have to disagree with something you say in this post about both VP pics:
"Neither one really stood out at all."
I think both stood out. Biden stood out as a sincere, seasoned leader with a level head. He appeared trustworthy, sensible and clear on the issues. While he didn't offer as much information as I would have liked, this is his one and only debate, and they had a lot of ground to cover. Entertainment value is irrelevant. Overall, his responses did raise my awareness on some foreign policy issues, and also gave me a lot to think about as to what I need to hear from Obama so that he'll win my vote.
Palin also stood out. She is clearly a fast learner (5 weeks is not a lot of time to get a grip on the nation) and is a poised, personable candidate. Also not as forthcoming with quality information, she was clearly strong on a couple of issues, particularly energy and taxation. She's also not merely evasive, but downright obstinate regarding both the financial markets and health care and bill herself as another "Maverick" in the process. Flat out---if you were interviewing her for a position in your company, and she refused blatently to your face, "I don't want to answer that question, instead I want to talk about ....", would you give her the position?
I wouldn't.
