Gap
As in so many matters, the rabbinical views on life and abortion are eminently sensible and humane. And I find it incomprehensible how anyone could possibly condemn you for having made the decision you did in your own painful case...

Hi Mal! I have a fund raiser of sorts going on. Anroha 25 is an 11 year old on Blogit. She is leaving and we are trying to raise 47 cents so she can get a check. Isn't it adorable? I have a promotion going on but I am leaving a link and we are just wishing her a good school year. I knew you would want to wish her well too! Are you busy?  Thanks too! sammy   ANROHA

I think these are personal and privet individual decisions. The choice to end the pregrancy prematurely is difficult and heartbreaking. good write.Mal,kudos.

Each person is a summation of his environment and culture. We form our opinions and are reassured by what we have been taught. In my opinion, there are no absolutes. So if you are at peace with your decision, all power to you.

I must add my appreciation to these other voices for your sharing this.

It is too easy to make sweeping judgments, to form conclusions about cases while not knowing the details, circumstances or thought that went into another person's decision.

We can almost never know someone else's story sufficiently to be their judge.

I am so sorry Mal. I applaud you on your decision to not bring a life into the world to suffer unnecessarily. I have always felt abortion was a personal decision. I think in this case you would have had more guilt for having brought a child into the world to suffer. I get frustrated with those who yell for all pregnancies to come to term even though they have never been pregnant and those who could never become pregnant. It is wrong to force someone to do something on the basis of other's beliefs. I wonder at time who people really think they are. I refuse to be told what to do on the basis of another's thoughts. I appreciate your sharing this difficult time in response to abortions. My thoughts are aligned with yours as well. sammy

An excellent post my friend!
I wholeheartedly agree that abortion is a personal matter for all women and I also believe that men should keep their pious opinions to themselves - politicians being the main culprits of interference where they have no business interfering.  On the other hand I am certainly not pro abortion per se; many blessings and thanks

this is why abortion is a personal issue and not a political platform.
great post, my friend!
