Re: RSM, what a day this is.
Of course there are times that we agree. You must admit that this post did not really involve religion and definitely did not involve politics. Thank you this pleasant comment. Have a great week!

RSM, what a day this is.
We see that there are times where we can get along and agree on things.

Re: You argee with me? Are you sure you are RSM?

Holidays have become yet another victim of secularism. Enough with the commercialization! Heck, Thanksgiving has been consumed by Christmas. As soons as one holiday is here they start on the next even though it may a month away.

Thanks for reading my comment. here lately everyone assumes that I have negative responses to everything, which can be proven false. Thanks for reading what I wrote.

Let's make it a trifecta.......
I enjoyed reading this post..........and Holidays should be what each and every person chooses to make them.........

You argee with me? Are you sure you are RSM?
Just for the record, Halloween IS a holiday, just not a government holiday, as is Easter.  There are still other holidays out there, just not government holidays.  For someone against big government, I am surprised you would let them dictate the holidays for you.

But as we both have agreed here, it doesn't really matter.  Holidays are what you make of them, even if they are not government holidays.

This Has Always Been True

As Christians, we do not spend every waking moment in church on Christmas day. We visit both sets of parents as millions do. We do have gifts from Santa under the tree and do remember that this day is a celebration of the birth of Christ as the utmost reason for this day. We, too, enjoy the smiles and glee on the faces of our children on that day. We celebrate traditionally.

Holidays that are observed as holidays in this nation, determinded by our government, are as follows:

New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Inauguration Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Halloween is not a holiday. Never has been. You have the right to celebrate October 31 the way you wish and I have the right to celebrate it or not. Easter is not listed as a holiday and can be celebrated in the spirit of spring or when Jesus Christ arose from the grave.

Two correct assumptions on your part are the following:

I have news for them, every holiday is way too commercial now days.

I could not agree more!

I know what I make of holidays. And I enjoy holidays as much as possible because I choose to.

Again, I agree. We do the same. In our family, we enjoy all holidays but our favorites are Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Independence Day, in that order.
