In this materialistic world, priests must be well treasured by God. Your service is sorely needed.

No doubt your work keeps reminding you of the fickleness of materialism and the transient nature of protoplasm. It keeps you sane! lol

Rocking

Most churches are faced with the dilemma of how to expand their congregation and it’s so very true that they must some how shift gears slightly so as to attract the younger crowd.  It’s a difficult balance – upholding time honoured traditions while at the same time adding a modern twist.

Some how, some way....
God will provide. You are a very caring, compassionate person and I pray God's favor and blessings upon you always.

My husband is the music director at our church.  He always struggles with traditional and modern, as different people want different things.  He gets complaints no matter what he does.  I always encourage him to just go with his heart and gut, as that is usually how God speaks.

It is a true leap of faith
to rely on titheing but that is the directive and the Law of Attraction of like attracts like.  If you set intentions that faith will bring your needs, then your needs will be meet with faith. You get from the Universe what you ask for; you don't get what you don't ask for.  As  Mick said: You might not get what you want, but you might find out you get what you need.  Wakka-wakka  It is hard sometimes to keep the faith.  It must be so hard on families to have to wait so long for funerals. I can't imagine having to wait so long.  The only thing that delays funerals here are related to the travel time of family members, otherwise within 3 days everything is over with.  The trend now is doing the viewing and receiving of friends and family and funeral and burial in one day instead of the 2 day ritual. Many Blessings

The evangelicals sure do have money raising figured out.

I, being old, like my old Episcopal church and it's comforting predictable services. However, the young have services which shock me.

Went to a Christmas service at a church the size of a rock concert hall, stage and all, big screen tvs showing the upclose action onstage, like in a sports arena, a rock band was onstage, etc. They changed, even changed the lyrics to traditional Religious Christmas carols.

Then, when it was over, we were to proceed to tables placed on the second tier walkway of the place, there were offered holy oyster crackers, it looked like to me. Then small cough syrup dispenser sized cuplets with grape juice. Kids were drinking out of them and placing them back on the table, reaching for handfuls of the holy crackers and dropping them on the floor as they ate their handful.

I      was     Speechless.

Maybe, when you come to Tucson, I could take you to the service and we could share some of my personal horror.

But, you would probably rather subscribe to the preacher's newsletters which go out weekly with ideas describing how to make the church more relevant and more people friendly and more lucrative, NO??

Dunno about Ubuntu, sorry dear.
