Thank you! What a great idea! I never thought about the lay-away option. I can remember doing that, too, so many years ago. I think stores got away from that but I think they are coming back to it from what I heard on the news prior to Christmas. You are a wise one.

I would advise him to go to a large department store that has "lay away" and purchase something like a TV for instance with say, $200.00 down and tell them he'll pick up the TV when it's paid off. Now he's got $3,500.00, he'll only be spending a small part of that for a TV or whatever. That will establish him as credit worthy and in no time they'll be hounding him to have a credit card. Put the car on hold for a while, gain interest on his money for a couple of months until his credit is established.
Well it's only a suggestion, that's what I would have told my own 5 kids who are all grown now. Good luck to him luv.
