Excellent, right on post. I also don't understand the bonus thing. Can't retain good people? Maybe they're not so good if the biz is spiraling downward. I didn't think you got a bonus "just because." Stupid thinking. I'm pissed we're bailing them out.

On it only applying to those taking the bailout money............

Socialist creep. And I mean that in both senses of the term.

Congress will consider legislation to extend some of the curbs on executive pay that now apply only to those banks receiving federal assistance, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank said.

“There’s deeply rooted anger on the part of the average American,” the Massachusetts Democrat said at a Washington news conference today.

He said the compensation restrictions would apply to all financial institutions and might be extended to include all U.S. companies.

The provision will be part of a broader package that would likely give the Federal Reserve the authority to monitor systemic risk in the economy and to shut down financial institutions that face too much exposure, Mr. Frank said…

Mr. Geithner said he would consider “extending at least some of the TARP provisions and features of the $500,000 cap to U.S. companies generally.”

S O C I A L I S M.....One step at a time........

I'm glad that our President has a bit of spunk.  It certainly is interesting watching him work on a day-to-day basis.  Plus, I love his beautiful smile.  I hope he doesn't turn gray haired and frowny too soon as all presidents in office seem to.

I'd like to dip my cup in that ocean of money, too!

     Gap,

What is it going to take to wake these people up, to what they have done to us all? These corporate chairmen ought to be replaced with empty chairs! After a few trips through bread lines, sleeping in accomodations with Frigidare printed on the sides, etc. it might sink in, what their arrogant actions have done to the economies of the whole world! Then again, probably not. Erect the guillotines next to that big brass bull on Wall St. They have big brass balls too, and Wall St. used to be "slaughter house row." The more things change, the more they stay the same. Everyone is disgusted with them. We should all shun them, like heretics and criminals were treated, in the old days!

Bravo...How about a little less greed.....breeds money more evenly spread around. Where's the Responsibility and integrity gone too. These "Chair"persons and leaders on Wall St. and else where have been sitting around Eating Cake far too long. Enjoyed your story thoroughly.

Wonderful! I like your spunk too! I think what the President is doing is fantastic! The best and brightest don't shine all that well with me since I am fast becoming one of the victims of this housing mess! sammy

As so often (though not always, LOL) I completely agree with you. Although it needs to be pointed out that not all those who get money were themselves responsible for this debacle, but simply got caught in the down-draft caused by the big losers. And further, that this mess began with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and their ruinous lending policies, which had actually been set by the Clinton admin...

well I believe he's being very fair here. He's asking them to accept the
same as he himself gets. OMG what I could do with that sort of money every year.

One would assume that a "bonus" is a reward for actions above and beyond the call of duty. If the business in spiraling down the toilet, how could they justify a bonus?

I'm skeptical about this proposal. I suspect that although salaries would be capped at $500,000.......these execs would find a way to sustain their multi-million dollar incomes by recieving "incentives" via stock options, etc. (sneaky little bastards). But, it's a start at least......Now, how about addressing the huge bucks our athletes makes...it's so out of control.

gap, hi...wanted to stop by and say that my posts are being viewed
across the board by everyone, except one person a while back sent me an email and said they couldn't view my posts, either...I told them to try a different browser and they did.  Now they can read my posts fine...you might try that.  You were able to read the post a week ago and nothing has changed on my end, so it must be your browser?  Let me know if that changes with another browser.
